All has been revealed recently with the launch on Kindle of his first novel Greenock 1933.

Sandy is a keen amateur historian. A while back he was looking into the history of Scotland in the 1930’s and with a specific interest in his home town Greenock. Sandy explained “there was so much going on at this time. The town was still in the middle of a long depression with all the shipyards closed. This had a direct impact on members of my family with some emigrating and a few staying on.”

Gradually Sandy began to think that the raw material might make an interesting novel and so began a three year journey. Thanks to a close friend he was able to spend time hidden away in a cottage in Wester Ross as he found it impossible to write at home.
The result of his efforts can now be seen on Kindle.

Kirsty Marr a young student from Abertay University did all the hard work making the manuscript Kindle ready as well as developing a Facebook page. “More as a joke than a serious decision Kirsty and I decided to create a pen name for me, so I became Alexander Kempock” said Sandy.

Anyone wishing to find out more about the novel can reach it on Kindle under Greenock 1933 by Alexander Kempock. The Facebook page is entitled Alexander Kempock Author. There has been quite a lot of interest in the book, but Sandy does not plan to give up his day job.

He ended by observing “I’ve got 3 or 4 ideas for another book buzzing about in my head, but have no idea when I’ll find the time.”
