Tour de Tay 2018 – Sponsors, Cyclists, and Volunteers required

Up to 200 cyclists are expected to saddle up for the Tour de Tay cycling challenge on Saturday 29th September.

Tracing a route along the scenic banks of the River Tay, the 50-mile ride begins in Newport on Saturday September 29, with participants completing a circuit taking in Fife, Perthshire, Perth and Dundee.  Those choosing the shortened 25-mile option begin at the halfway stage in Perth and end at the main finish line back in Newport.

All proceeds from the £25 sign-up fee go towards Abertay’s Expanding Horizons Scholarship Fund – helping provide opportunities for students to study abroad with Abertay partner institutions, as part of their degree.   Last year we raised over £6,000 which has helped ten students to study abroad at partner institutions.  Without the Fund they would not been able to make most of this opportunity.  More information about the Fund can be found here:  https://www.abertay.ac.uk/life/alumni-and-supporters/tour-de-tay-cycle-2018/

Robbie Francis, an Associate at Thorntons, said: “Abertay University is an important part of our Dundee community and the Tour de Tay is a wonderful event that opens doors for the local student population.

“Our Thorntons team is very much looking forward to taking part in this excellent annual fixture.”

Professor Seaton said: “The Tour de Tay is a wonderful event, both for the spirit of endeavour and comradeship of those participating and the lasting legacy it generates for our students.

“We are very grateful to all of our backers, including Platinum sponsors Thorntons, for supporting the cause and for helping our students take up opportunities that may otherwise be outwith their reach.”

Leisure & Culture Dundee are Gold sponsors this year and Tactran are Silver sponsors.
