Service 360 electrifies Dundee!

10th September 2018

Xplore Dundee is preparing to bring the city’s first electric bus to the streets, with the launch of the City Circle Service 360 on Monday 17th September.

• Xplore Dundee’s new city centre loop to start 17th September
• Service to feature the city’s first electric bus

The new bus has been officially unveiled this morning (Monday 10th September) at Discovery Quay and Service 360 will begin running on Monday 17th September, immediately following V&A Dundee’s opening weekend.

Managing Director Christine McGlasson said: “Dundee is already the electric capital of the UK – now Xplore Dundee is unveiling the city’s first ever all-electric bus.

“Visitors coming to Dundee for the first time will step out of the train station to see a brand-new, quiet, emissions-free vehicle ready to take them around town. And for Dundonians, the new City Circle service 360 will provide a better-connected city by opening up the waterfront and linking the bus and train stations.

“We are really excited about this new service and we hope that visitors and local people will really embrace it as a vital part of Dundee’s city centre life.”

Running every 20 minutes around the City Centre, this brand new service will serve three main purposes:

• Open up the waterfront for Dundonians to access and enjoy
• Link local landmarks to encourage visitors to experience all the city has to offer
• Bring road and rail together with the first link between the bus and train stations

Xplore Dundee’s regular range of tickets will be available for purchase (and valid for use) on the 360 - along with the introduction of 360-only hop-on/hop-off tickets (prices at £3 for adults and £2 for children/young people).

Service 360 also links with every other service in the bus operator’s network, opening up the whole of the city for locals and visitors alike.

A number of partners have joined forces with Xplore Dundee to bring this innovative new service to the city’s streets, including Visit Dundee, Dundee Industrial Heritage, the Overgate, the Science Centre and Leisure and Culture Dundee.

Paul Jennings, Executive Director of Dundee Heritage Trust and Chairman of the Board at VisitDundee, said: “Xplore Dundee’s Service 360 is a welcome addition to the city’s transport offerings and will be extremely valuable for visitors, especially those who are here for the first time. It’s an excellent new service for locals too.”
