Internet for Business wants Scottish-based Cloud providers to have greater opportunities to bid and secure contracts in the domestic market.

Operations director of IFB, Graeme Gordon, is urging businesses and the Scottish Government to back his Tartan Cloud initiative, whereby Scottish based Cloud providers have greater opportunities to bid and secure contracts in the domestic market. He presented alongside several prominent IT figures at the Information and Communication Technology: Supporting Public Service conference at the University of Edinburgh.

Mr Gordon says, 'The ICT sector in Scotland contributes 5% of Gross Value Added (GVA) and it employs one in 20 individuals. The expertise and skills present in Scotland within the ICT sector are phenomenal and its Naturally Cool environment makes it ideal for the location of data centres, driven by renewable energy sources.'

The one day 'Information and Communication Technology: Supporting Public Service' conference in Edinburgh on the 23rd of June explored the future of Scottish ICT and the state of public sector ICT infrastructure in Scotland.
