Factsheet: Our Future UK Trade Policy

The Trade Bill was introduced into the House of Commons on 7 November 2017 and is currently progressing through the House of Lords. This Bill will help ensure that the UK has the necessary tools in place to operate our own trade policy once we leave the EU. Further tax-related elements of the UK’s trade policy are contained in the Taxation (Cross-border Trade) Act 2018 which received Royal Assent on 13 September 2018.

Department for International Trade

The Department for International Trade is a UK government department responsible for managing trade agreements between the UK and foreign countries, as well as for encouraging foreign investment and export trade.
