There are currently two very good reasons to raise a toast to Gin Bothy, the highly acclaimed Angus gin makers who fuse traditionally-created artisan spirits and ciders with locally-grown ingredients – two prestigious new awards.

“At the end of 2018, we were named Gin Distillery of the year in SME News’ Scottish Enterprise Awards,” explains Kim Cameron, who established Gin Bothy in 2013 and has watched her SME business grow from a one-woman operation into a thriving artisan distillery with 12 employees and a growing turnover. “It was an honour for Gin Bothy to be presented with this highly-respected award.”

Kaven Cooper of Global Media explained that the ‘Scottish Enterprise Awards’ showcase exceptional businesses and the teams driving them. “Our awards recognise the achievements made by the leading businesses within Scotland, whose efforts, ingenuity and dedication have played a prominent role in Scottish economy,” continued Kaven. “Businesses such as Gin Bothy are ensuring the continued success of Scotland’s economy and corporate landscape.”

Having ended 2018 on a high, this year has started equally well for Gin Bothy, with the company being awarded a Global Business Insight Award for Excellence for its popular free online delivery service. “Our customers love being able to order their favourite Gin Bothy tipple through our website – last year, we sold over 30,000 bottles of Gin and liqueurs through our online delivery service, an increase of 10% in 12 months,” said Kim.

“The 2018/2019 Global Business Insight Awards celebrate successful, dynamic and innovative businesses across all seven continents of the world. It’s great for Gin Bothy, and for the Angus area, to be internationally recognised in this way.”

Gin Bothy moved to a new home in the Angus village of Glamis last autumn - The Bothy Experience. Located within a historic farm steading, The Bothy Experience is a 4 star visitor attraction offering opportunities to sample and buy Gin Bothy’s ever-increasing range of drinks while also finding out more about the traditional bothy way of life. The Bothy Experience is now preparing for a busy 2019 season after a soft opening last October which exceeded all expectations.

“We are planning a series of fantastic events throughout 2019 to showcase the area’s rich heritage of music, culture, food and drink for our visitors to enjoy when they come to The Bothy Experience,” said Kim, who added that there’s about to be a new addition to the Gin Bothy family. “I’m about to have a baby,” revealed Kim. So I may have a very special Gin Bothy Miniature with me when we welcome the first visitors of the season to The Bothy Experience!”
