Dundee’s grassroots, youth-led mental health and wellbeing charity Feeling Strong is set to turn one on the 2nd of April, and campaigners are gearing up to mark the event by launching a new fundraising drive to support the charity's mission. Across the charity’s social media and website they’re asking for donations in advance of their first birthday to help with costs like launching an app to support good mental health, developing summer diversionary programmes for vulnerable young people and trialing a peer-led listening model with partner organisations.
Founder of the charity Brook Marshall said: “I am so overwhelmed by incredible efforts of our Staff, Volunteers, Trustees and supporters in the community, without their hard work and sacrifice Feeling Strong wouldn’t have come so far so quickly. I think if we're lucky enough to continue being supported by funders and the local community we can really develop an exceptional range of services that makes Dundee proud.
“It’s only been 11 months since I founded Feeling Strong because of my experiences of erratic mental health and being taken into inpatient care for my own safety, but the response has been amazing and I hope people consider donating what they can via our website to help us further our impact for some of Dundee’s most vulnerable young people”.
