Scottish Rugby Head Coach Gregor Townsend MBE will be the special guest at this year’s Sports Challenge Dinner in Dundee.

The annual ‘Question of Sport’ style event is set to raise thousands for Scottish children’s charities, Children’s Aid and The Yard, a charity which offers an adventure play service to disabled children, young people and their families.

Organised by Thorntons Solicitors and Thorntons Investment Management Ltd, the Sports Challenge Dinner – which is a sell out once again - will take place on Thursday 9 May at Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa.

Guests will challenge each other in the sports themed quiz in a bid to be crowned top sports brains in Tayside and take home the Sports Challenge trophy. There will also be a number of team prizes to be won throughout the night and a special charity auction, ensuring it’s an evening packed with healthy competition all in aid of charity.

This year’s fundraiser will once again boast a premier line-up with quiz hosts rugby legend Andy Nicol and Sky Sports’ pundit Alan McInally.

Colin Graham, Chairman at Thorntons, said: “Over the last five years we have raised over £140,000 for local children's charities through this event and we hope the 2019 dinner will add a great sum to this total.”

“We’re delighted to add Gregor Townsend to our stellar line up which is sure to make this event even more special.”

Celine Sinclair, CEO at The Yard, said: “We are very fortunate to have the ongoing support of Thorntons and their Sports Challenge Dinner. Their fundraising efforts mean we can support many more local disabled children and their families with opportunities to play, be creative, have adventures and make friends. On behalf of all our families, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who attends and supports this very special event. It also helps move us towards our aim of building a brand new, purpose built centre to host The Yard Dundee within the next few years, allowing us to reach an even greater number of disabled children and young people who need us.”

Guests will take part in popular sports quiz rounds including Hit or Miss, the picture round, and what happened next.   Andy Nicol will also host a Q&A session with Gregor Townsend on the night.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available for quiz rounds and prizes. To enquire about becoming a sponsor, email events@thorntons-law.co.uk or call Claire Ross on 01382 229 111.
