Results of informal consultation carried out earlier this year on a number of school estate issues, including a joint community learning campus that would have involved Dundee, Angus and Perth & Kinross Councils, will be outlined at a meeting on Monday (Sep 9).
Consultation responses in Dundee supported the tri-council plan, but the committee
will be told that there is not an agreed position across the three councils, and it is not
planned to take forward a joint 2-18 campus at this time.
Proposals for the future of Braeview Academy and Craigie High School will be brought forward later this year, the counci’s children and families service committee is to be told at its next meeting.
The committee will also hear that formal consultation on primary provision in the Western Gateway will be oulined in December as well.
Committee members will also hear that options that could have seen Barnhill Primary pupils choosing to attend Monifieth High in the future will not go ahead because of the position on the joint learning campus.
Informal consultation considered possibilities around Braeview Academy and Craigie High School. The committee will be asked to approve a recommendation that further work is carried out on options and that a report is brought back in December.
Children and families service convener Councillor Stewart Hunter said: “I would like to thank everyone who took the time to respond to the informal consultation.
“This report outlines a number of issues that we still have to look at in detail and that is why the recommendation is for reports to come back later this year.
“We are working hard to ensure that our learning estate provides the best opportunities for pupils across the city.”

Dundee City Council
Dundee draws skilled workers from a 60-minute catchment population of 640,000 and has a local population of over 140,000. The availability of a large pool of highly skilled labour is a key feature in the Dundee economy. Flexibility in the labour force is currently more prevalent in Dundee than in Scotland as a whole. All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
