It’s voting time…and it’s up to young people in Angus to make their vote count!
This year’s Power of Youth has welcomed applications from 32 groups from across Angus for a share of £70,000 to support Youth Work projects in their areas. It’s now over to young people in the county to decide who gets the money.
The funding is being made available through a partnership between Angus Council and Angus Alcohol and Drugs Partnership as part of a commitment to participatory budgeting.
Money will be shared across the county, with £10,000 for Angus-wide projects; £10,000 for each of the four locality areas – Arbroath/Brechin and Montrose/Carnoustie, Monifieth and Sidlaw/Forfar and Kirriemuir; and £20,000 across Angus for projects that support a range of approaches to alcohol and drug education.
Every young person – aged from S1 to 18 years-old - can vote for which projects they want to get a cash boost. All they have to do is go onto the Young Scot website via the link - https://young.scot/campaigns/angus/power-of-youth-funding
Once there they will get full instructions on how to vote and be able to see a summary of all the projects that can be voted for.
All Angus Council asks is that young people head online, read the information for their area, and vote for the projects they think deserve the money. Voting closes at midday on Monday 30 September 2019.
They can cast four votes – three votes for projects in their own area and one vote for an Angus-wide project. Having more than one vote presents the perfect opportunity to have a say about what is happening for young people where they live and across Angus.
A Young Scot number is required to vote. Anyone who doesn’t have a Young Scot number/card, shouldn’t worry – Angus Council can issue temporary numbers on request*
For anyone who prefers to vote in school, via a youth project, or requires support with voting or getting a temporary Young Scot number, drop-in sessions as detailed below have been arranged.
