Multiple titles, including The National (paywall), highlight the importance of recycling food waste. Zero Waste Scotland is using Recycle Week to remind people that our food waste can be transformed into a sustainable fuel to power future energy needs and help protect the planet.

Marty McFly and the Doc harnessed its energy in Back to the Future and the technology exists to use it today to power vehicles, heat our homes and grow more food. Councils across Scotland are joining in and promoting the benefits of recycling.

Fife Council released a video to show what happens to food and garden waste when it is recycled.
