With love from Dundee.....Saint Andrew's Day celebrations go global

Overgate Shopping Centre in Dundee, in partnership with some of the city’s leading independent food and drink brands, has gone global for this year’s Saint Andrew’s Day.

Following the hugely successful launch of the centre’s DUNDEE’S 7 CITIES campaign, which celebrates the international focus and connectivity of the city, and was created in 2018 as a precursor to the opening of the V&A Dundee, Overgate has further strengthened its ties through its latest feel-good initiative.

As part of Saint Andrew’s Day, sister cities including Alexandria in the USA, Orléans in France, Würzburg in Germany and Nablus in Palestine have all been the recipients of an Oor Wullie gift bag, made from iconic jute and created by Dundee’s Natural Bag Company. Inside each bag, a selection of covetable products including bottles of Dundee Gin and Mòr Beer, along with Hunter’s of Dundee handmade chocolate, Mackays The Dundee Orange Marmalade and Heather Hills Farm honey, have gone global for Scotland’s national day.

Speaking about the initiative, Malcolm Angus, Centre Manager of Overgate commented;

“Overgate is delighted to be celebrating Saint Andrew’s Day with Dundee’s sister cities across the world.

“Dundee has a wonderful connectivity internationally, with countless stories of shared friendships built over the years, and we are thrilled to have partnered with some of the city’s most exciting brands, as well as the Twinning Associations, as we continue to strengthen ties further.”

“DUNDEE’S 7 CITIES is a brilliant initiative and Dundee Würzburg Twinning Association is delighted to have been part of this Saint Andrew’s Day promotion with Overgate.

“Our friends in Germany were thrilled to receive such fantastic gifts, especially in the Oor Wullie jute bag.”
