More and more of us are helping Santa in the run-up to Christmas by doing some internet shopping ourselves. But when it comes to cyber security, just how clued up are we?
Its core function is to protect the devices we all use and the services we access – at home and at work – from theft and damage. From online banking and shopping, to email and social media, it is more important than ever to take steps that prevent attackers getting hold of our accounts and data.
Dundee and Angus College’s approach to cyber security is to support all staff to develop their digital skills, including how to be safe, confident and secure online.
It has also signed up to Cyber Essentials Plus. This government-backed scheme aims to help organisations implement basic levels of protection against a whole range of the most common attacks by internet-based criminals.
If cyber security interests you, whether at home or work, D&A College now offers a course which will equip you with the knowledge required to combat these attacks. It runs for 14 weeks and starts on 20 January at its Gardyne campus.
This HNC qualification could help with future employment prospects or lead to further study at college at HND level then access to Abertay University’s BSc Ethical Hacking Year 3 or Edinburgh Napier University’s Cyber Security Year 3.
