A group of award-winning care homes across Angus, Tayside and Perthshire are opening their doors to people spending Christmas Day alone.

Care homes from across Balhousie Care Group, one of Scotland’s leading providers of residential care, are welcoming people on their own from the local community to enjoy Christmas dinner with their staff, residents and families.

Participating homes include Balhousie Antiquary in Arbroath, Balhousie Lisden in Kirriemuir, and Balhouse Brookfield and Balhousie Willowbank both in Carnoustie. All of these homes are more than happy to welcome anyone locally who doesn’t have anyone to share Christmas Day with for some turkey and company.

The invitation to join in the festivities as also gone out via social workers

Several other homes, including Balhousie St Ronans in Dundee and Balhousie Stormont Lodge in Blairgowrie already have people from the local community booked in to come along for their Christmas lunch so they don’t have to spend the day alone.

With homes spread across the country from Aberdeenshire to Fife and Falkirk, the care company is in a prime position to offer a warm welcome to those who need it at what can be a difficult time of year.

Jill Kerr, Group Chief Executive Officer at Balhousie Care Group, said: “For most people Christmas is a magical time of the year spent with loved ones, but there are also people out there who are isolated and lonely and, at this time of year that can be exacerbated. We provide care every day and if our care homes can offer these people some comfort during the festive season then we are delighted to be able to invite them to spend the day with us.”
