ANGUSalive in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support, have added an additional Move More Circuit-based class, which will start next Tuesday 28th January at the Forfar Community Campus.

Move More Scotland is part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s national campaign to support people affected by cancer. It’s designed to help them find an activity that is right for them, encouraging them to continue to be active, with individually tailored health behaviour change support.
The programme aims to ensure that people living with cancer are supported to become physically active, both before, during, and after their treatment. The programme is developing four main physical activity opportunities across Angus: Gentle Movement, Walking, Gardening, and Circuit-based exercise classes.

Melanie Thirde, Specialist Exercise Instructor at ANGUSalive, will be taking the class and talks about the benefits of the class, “Exercise is such a powerful tool in cancer rehabilitation. The evidence is overwhelming and this inspires me each week to be able to guide and motivate each participant at the right level for them. I aim to provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere; the classes are fun, informal and each exercise is tailored to the individual. The classes are a fantastic opportunity to regain your sense of self, improve your physical function and build self-esteem. There is a real sense of camaraderie in these classes, and I feel privileged and inspired to be improving the outcomes of people living with cancer”.

Anyone in Angus who has had a cancer diagnosis is eligible for support to be physically active through Move More ANGUSalive. Classes also take place in Arbroath, Brechin, Carnoustie and Montrose.

To join a class or for more information please contact the Move More team at ANGUSalive on 01307 492059 or email  movemore@angusalive.scot
