Angus Library activities timetable updates

Published

3rd February 2020

From January 2020 updated timetables are in place for adult and children’s library activities across Angus.

The same great array of activities are on offer with slight changes to days and times. Activities include Bookbug, Lego in the Library, Chatterbooks, Knit and Natter, Reminiscence Groups and Reading Groups. There are activities for all ages - children from birth to 5 years, Primary 1 – Primary 7 as well as adult activities.

Sylvia Main, ANGUSalive Children and Families Library Lead, tells us more about the programme, she said: “Our libraries across Angus offer more than 60 sessions each week. We’ve got a fabulous selection of activities for both the young and old. There’s the very popular Bookbug activity which enables parents and little ones to enjoy a read and sing-along; Lego in the Library gives primary school children the chance to experience hands-on learning as well as a Reminiscence Groups – enabling people to take a trip down memory lane.

“Our classes don’t only allow residents to enjoy an engaging group session – but can often offer much more - a chance to meet new friends, combat loneliness or simply provide an opportunity to do something different. If you’ve not tried one of our free activities yet, it’s worth a look to see if there is something that could suit you.”

ANGUSalive libraries have a responsibility to support the process of learning to read, and to promote books and other media to children and adults. The libraries put on special events such as the forthcoming Harry Potter sessions as well as activities related to the library's services and resources to expand people’s reading interests and experiences.

ANGUSalive operates seven libraries across the county including Carnoustie, Arbroath, Brechin, Forfar, Kirriemuir, Monifieth and Montrose libraries as well as two mobile library vehicles. For details of all the free activities on offer, visit https://www. angusalive.scot/libraries/activities/
