The University of Dundee’s annual Art & Design and Architecture Degree Show celebrates the success of graduating students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design and the Department of Architecture. For ten days each year the College is transformed into one of the country’s biggest galleries showcasing the culmination of several years of creative development and hard work. This is a vital opportunity for students to promote themselves and their work to a global audience. This year the Degree Show will take place from Friday 22 May to Sunday 31 May 2020.

The exceptional quality of work on display truly needs to be seen to be appreciated. The Degree Show is one of the major reasons why the city of Dundee has developed a worldwide reputation as a hub for creative design and contemporary art, further enhanced by the opening of the V&A in the heart of the city’s waterfront. Over 15,000 visitors from all over the world come to Dundee annually to attend the Degree Show and to discover the new talent of Scotland’s art and design scene.

Two years ago, the University of Dundee launched the Friends of the Show scheme, inviting local businesses to support up-and-coming artists, designers, and architects. The initiative has been very well received by local businesses, raising thousands of pounds to support the Degree Show.

By joining the scheme, Friends provide invaluable support to students as they launch their extraordinary creative talent into the world. Friends also play a key part in helping to attract new visitors to Dundee’s vibrant cultural community, their business profile benefitting by association with emerging new talent from the University of Dundee.

Businesses can choose to become a Friend at whichever level – Gold, Silver, or Bronze - is the best fit for their business. The range of exciting opportunities available for Friends include invitations to the Degree Show opening night, exclusive tours and recognition on the exhibition website and in the show guide.

Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design continues to be firmly embedded within the local community and has made a creative impact on so many lives, both locally, nationally and internationally. The support of Friends helps students tremendously as they strive to launch their careers in the world of art and design.

The University of Dundee is delighted to welcome Ninja Kiwi, Halley Stevensons, Redwood Invercarse Hotel, Thorntons Law and Pretty Fly Workshop as their most recent Friends of the Show 2020. University of Dundee

Nobel Prize winning poet and honorary graduate Seamus Heaney has described the University of Dundee as ‘having its head in the clouds and its feet firmly on the ground.’ The ability to be both aspirational and down-to earth and to blend ground-breaking intellectual achievement with practical applications, has given the University its distinctive character.
