Appeal for critical support for NHS Scotland

Published

23rd March 2020

The Scottish Government is calling on businesses across the country to supply a number of personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical equipment, as it seeks to ensure NHS Scotland has adequate supplies for staff members on the front line.

Scottish ministers are asking companies to step up, or start production of protective equipment and ventilators to help NHS Scotland cope with the unprecedented challenge caused by COVID-19.

The priority list of items will change but at this moment, the supplies most needed are:

  • Ventilators and associated kit for Intensive Care Unit needs.
  • Face masks - FFp3 masks that comply with EN149:2001
  • Surgical masks - Type IIR Fluid Resistant
  • Surgical gowns
  • Hand Sanitiser - hospital / social care requirements
  • Swabs-Testing Kit - MW951S (bottle, agent, stick)
  • Disposable eye wear and disposable full face visors

If your business can offer any support for this effort by providing these products to NHS Scotland at significant scale and in the very near term, we would ask you to get in touch with the Scottish Government by e-mail : Covid19response@gov.scot

To ensure the Scottish Government can prioritise your e-mail, please use the subject line: 'NHS Priority Items' and please indicate the volumes and specification of products available.

This is an initial appeal. The situation is constantly evolving however, we will keep our members updated as and when we receive new information.
