After a busy few weeks getting our heads around working remotely, supporting businesses with challenges arising from COVID-19 and creating a dedicated online hub full of the latest information for business, communities, health & safety, recruitment and so much more our thoughts turned to our webinars and the topics we should be covering. The Chamber network across the region is strong and supportive and we wanted to share people's expertise so, with this in mind our weekly webinars were born!
From this week we'll be delivering three webinars per week, inviting members and non-members to join us for the following
Every Tuesday - Informal networking for members, grab a coffee & cake and join us from 2.30pm
Every Wednesday - Boosting staff morale, looking at mental health & motivation. Take a Break and join us over lunch for a session to help us all adapt to the home working challenges we're facing
Every Thursday - Business Support, we’ll be joined by some key experts from across the region delivering support to businesses
Our first Take a Break webinar heard from Wendy Callander (Wellbeing Works) and Kev Anderson (The Story Edge). Wendy gave us an insight into her organisation and how she's supporting her team through these difficult times. The Wellbeing Works activity programme includes arts and crafts, music, cooking, special interest and discussion groups. The Wellbeing outdoors programme includes, walking, growing at the allotment, garden safaris working in partnership with other organisations across the City. With all of that activity now ground to a halt Wendy and the team are looking at ways in which they can still support and involve those who would usually have benefitted from the service in different ways.
Wendy also spoke of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing, an interesting and inspiring way to help us all through difficult times
- Connect
- Be Active
- Learn something new
- Take notice
- Giving
We also had a very open and honest discussion from Kev Anderson who spoke about the challenges he has faced, overcome, and occasionally gets drawn back into and the tactics he uses to get his mind on another track. Kev spoke passionately about the False Narratives, those stories we tell ourselves which we believe to be true, or are they? Kev has developed a number of techniques he uses from writing everything down, not stopping, if half way through you think you need to go shopping, write it down! to picking up the phone and speaking with another human being.
An excellent session with two fantastic speakers, you can watch for yourselves below or head over to our YouTube Channel for all of our webinars.
