Marketing and leasing advisers appointed for Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc;
The Council’s Internal Audit Plan 2020/21 has been agreed.

Ahead of the weekend, residents are reminded to only visit the city’s Household Waste Recycling Centres for essential purposes.

The Baldovie and Riverside sites re-opened on Monday (June 1st), with over 1,900 residents using the restricted facilities so far.

Demand continues to be high on the service, with queues of up to two hours on entry to the sites. Residents are being asked to plan their journeys ahead of time as entry to the Baldovie or Riverside sites are strictly permitted between 9am and 4pm only, each day.

Anyone planning on visiting the Household Waste Recycling Centres should understand they are operating on a restricted basis with many health and safety measures in place. Further guidance on the HWRCs can be found on the Dundee City Council website.

Meanwhile, the Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc announced Ryden and Westport Property have been appointed as marketing and leasing advisers for the site.

The appointment will play a significant role in providing industrial and manufacturing accommodation to local, national and international companies at the forefront of the sustainable mobility and low carbon energy sectors.

The MSIP development is seen as one of many exciting projects which will be key to the city’s recovery from the Coronavirus.

As a result of Coronavirus restrictions the council and its committees are not able to meet. Essential business has therefore been delegated to the Senior Manager – Internal Audit in consultation with the Convener of the Scrutiny Committee, SNP Group spokesperson, Conservative Group spokesperson, Liberal Democrat Group spokesperson, the independent member and the Lord Provost.

They have agreed on the 2020/21 Internal Audit Plan and an update of the progress made towards delivering on the 2018/19 and 2019/20 Internal Audit Plans.

The Employability Pathway campaign will run on Wave FM for three weeks as part of the efforts of the council and partners to raise awareness of the range of support services available for people affected by the crisis.

Part funded by Dundee City Council and the European Structural Fund, the service is working with employers looking for staff right now and since the start of the pandemic has found people work in driving, cleaning, warehouse and factory roles, as well as customer services and contact centres.
Contact the Pathway team on 01382 433477 for help with a CV or preparing for interview.

The radio campaign follows other recent advertising focused on protecting people and lifeline support for the vulnerable, and is part of the city’s multi-agency response to the crisis.

Come Dine With Us Dundee for over 65s across the city will help people at risk of undernutrition who could benefit from a home cooked meal and additional support.

Funded by the Big Lottery Supporting Communities Fund it will run for eight weeks and provide three home cooked meals delivered by a friendly face each Wednesday for 30 new referrals. In addition Boomerang will also provide a further 25 meals to older adults every week in the Maryfield ward.

To be eligible referrals must be aged over 65 years, isolated and have no one delivering meals or looking out for them, have lost weight recently without meaning to and lost their appetite or interest in food.

Referrals can be made to Jordan Ward on jordanward@dvva.scot or 0798 370 6626 no later than Thursday weekly to establish if support can be provided.

Come Dine With Us is a collaboration between St Mary’s Community Church, St Mary’s Community Engagement Worker, Dundee Volunteer and Voluntary Action, Dundee City Council, NHS Tayside Nutrition and Dietetic Service, Hillcrest, Boomerang, the Carers Centre and the Thomas Franks Catering Company and is supported by dedicated volunteers.
