A new chapter for Balhousie North Inch North Grove as it introduces two managers

A Perth-based care home is beginning an exciting new chapter as it introduces an enhanced leadership framework and appoints two managers across the home.

Originally grouped together as they sit on the same site on Hay Street, Balhousie North Inch North Grove has now segmented with residential home North Inch and specialist dementia unit North Grove appointing a manager in each unit.

North Inch and North Grove are two of 26 homes across the award-winning Balhousie Care, one of Scotland’s largest providers of residential care.

The new managers will oversee this new phase for the care home, and plan local recruitment drives. Both managers have been promoted from within the organisation, bringing a wealth of care and managerial experience into the roles.

One of their first tasks is to bolster the senior care teams with a recruitment push. As well as offering permanent roles, the home is offering casual contracts to people looking for more temporary work during the Coronavirus Crisis.

Catriona Short, recently Deputy Manager at Balhousie Lisden in Kirriemuir and previously a Senior Carer, has joined North Inch to take the home into its new chapter. Also as part of the plan, North Inch is undergoing refurbishment of bedrooms and communal spaces. Catriona has always enjoyed working in the care sector and is looking forward to getting to know her team and residents better at North Inch. She said:

“I’m very proud to work in the care sector. Many people say it’s a hard job, but there are a lot of rewards in helping people to get the most out of their days. I always look forward to going into work and I’m excited to be leading the team at North Inch in this exciting new chapter for the home and its staff and residents. Our property services team and interior designer have been working hard on upgrades and we’re excited to welcome new residents as well as boost our staff team.”

Kaye McKay, who has worked in care and predominantly with Balhousie since her school days, has been appointed manager at North Grove, which is being developed as a leading facility in dementia care. With 20 years’ experience in the care sector, Kaye had been working in a senior role at North Grove. After demonstrating her leadership qualities during the Coronavirus Crisis, Kaye was an excellent candidate for the manager position.

Since becoming manager, Kaye has been heavily involved in plans to refurbish the home. She said:

“I’m really excited to be able to develop North Grove as a dementia unit. The team have been really supportive and it has helped that I knew them having worked as a Senior Carer in the team already. I’m enjoying being involved in the plans to refurbish the home, making it even more dementia friendly.”
