Well known and popular Arbroath singer and entertainer Danny Laverty, who is also the proprietor of Danny Laverty Hairdressing Salon in Arbroath, has been invited by ANGUSalive to entertain his many fans in a Live Show, streamed from the Webster Memorial Theatre on Saturday 25 July 2020 at 8.00pm.

Danny has raised thousands of pounds over the years with his performances for many different charities.

Shortly after Covid-19 Lockdown was imposed, Danny wanted to help NHS Tayside and the people of Tayside in a practical way by raising funds to provide assistance to staff and patients in hospitals. He decided to perform on his own from his salon premises and own home on Saturday evenings at 8.00pm. He also has been doing mid-week updates to inform everyone of the funds raised and how the money is being spent.

Danny said, “The response from the public has been amazing and many hundreds of people from far and wide including Alaska, Florida, France and the wider UK, have been tuning in on Saturday nights for some banter, personal requests, humorous stories and to listen to my wide range of music for all. What started from nothing has grown amazingly and I have now been performing continually for the past three months. From the feedback and comments from my shows it’s been great to hear they have been an uplifting experience for many throughout this extremely difficult time for all of us and in particular, for many who found themselves in lockdown alone”.

To date, the money raised is in excess of £12,000 and many worthwhile items have already been purchased and delivered personally by Danny and his husband Paul directly to hospital wards in Ninewells, Arbroath Infirmary, Stracathro, Royal Victoria, Murray Royal, and Roxburgh House.

Audrey Hood, ANGUSalive Theatre Manager said, “We at ANGUSalive recognise the immense popularity of Danny's shows throughout lockdown, the physical and mental support provided in real terms to patients and carers in Tayside and in the wider community, and we wanted to support this initiative by providing Danny with the Webster Theatre after what has been an exhausting three months, with a live show (albeit) in an empty venue streamed through our Facebook page. Sadly due to Coronavirus, the Webster Theatre has had to re-schedule a number of shows that were programmed for 2020 into 2021 and beyond but we are looking forward to hearing more from the Scottish Government on when we can safely re-open once again. We simply can’t wait to welcome you all back to the Theatre and be entertained.”

Danny’s live show from the Webster Theatre can be seen this Saturday 25th July 2020 at 8.00 pm on the ANGUSalive Webster Theatre facebook page at www.facebook.com/ANGUSaliveTheWebster
