Hazel Peplinski, Chief Executive of Perth Racecourse, has been elected to join the Racecourse Association (RCA) Board of Directors by fellow small independent racecourses.

An election was triggered for a representative of small independent racecourses following Chester Racecourse’s management contract with Musselburgh Racecourse which meant Bill Farnsworth was required to step down.

Hazel now joins Charles Barnett, Vice Chairman (large independent racecourses) and fellow directors Delia Bushell (Jockey Club Racecourses), Martin Cruddace (ARC), Pat Masterson and Jonjo Sanderson (small independent racecourses) on the RCA Board under the chairmanship of Maggie Carver and Chief Executive David Armstrong.

Hazel Peplinski commented “I am looking forward to experiencing first-hand the dynamism of my fellow directors who have honed the art of finding the centre ground on behalf of our eclectic membership. I am humbled to have been asked by my peers to sit at their top table and I hope to bring my widespread experience at the grassroots of our sport to bear.”

Maggie Carver, RCA Chairman, welcomed Hazel to the Board. “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Hazel to the RCA Board. She has valuable experience in managing racecourses and has always been an active participant in other RCA activities. I am sure she will make a significant contribution to our board.

“We would like to thank Bill Farnsworth for his magnificent contribution over the years. Bill has been tremendous in his support, never afraid to challenge constructively, and a fine advocate for the smaller racecourses. We will miss him.”
