WBS announce Shut Up & Listen Webinar with Dr Ernesto Sirolli

Published

26th August 2020

As the full impact of Covid-19 begins to bite, Women's Business Station has secured a world leader in Economic Development to help communities unlock their potential, evolve and succeed.

Over the last 30 years, Dr Ernesto Sirolli has helped launch more than 40,000 enterprises in 250 communities and 25 countries, by training teams of Enterprise Facilitators (‘local people rather than experts’ - Sirolli).

Dr Sirolli’s principles and teachings were key to the creation of Women’s Business Station as we continue on our mission to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of 10,000 women in Scotland by 2030.

As we approach our first anniversary - a year like no other! - we are delighted to announce that Dr Sirolli will host a series of digital events during the remaining months of 2020.

Like many of us, Dr Sirolli has adjusted his business model during COVID-19, embracing digital opportunities. During the first event, he will share what he has learnt, explain how businesses can evolve in this new COVID world and how his model of ‘Enterprise Facilitation’ can help rebuild global economies.

Angie De Vos, Founder, Women’s Business Station said, “Supporting people ‘from the bottom up’, Ernesto has spent 30 years helping people find the resources they need to start businesses and make them thrive. Yes, Covid-19 presented huge challenges to Ernesto and the communities he supports around the world, but it also created opportunities, lessons we can all learn from. Ernesto will share his thoughts on how businesses can evolve as a direct result of the pandemic, helping unlock our potential in the process.”

Learning from a master at his art you will see how these teachings can be adapted for businesses, community projects, governments and corporations alike.

Founded in 1996, the Sirolli Institute teaches government, corporations and community leaders how to capture the passion of their communities using the intelligence of local people. Dr Sirolli is the author of two bestselling books and created ‘Enterprise Facilitation’ as a global movement.

Last Summer, Dr Sirolli addressed 140 delegates as Women’s Business Station hosted The Enterprise Conversation at Dundee’s Apex City Quay Hotel and Spa.

Key points of Enterprise Facilitation:
• If people don’t want to be helped … leave them alone!
• If they ask for help … listen to them and do something!
• NEVER PRESUME TO HAVE THE SOLUTIONS
• History of Entrepreneurship is a story of companionship
• It’s Bottom-Up NOT Top-Down
• Enterprise Facilitators - NEVER give money
