ANGUSalive will begin reopening its swimming pools from 1 October for public lane swimming only.
Forfar Community Campus will reopen today (Thursday 1 October) with Arbroath Sports Centre, Brechin Community Campus and Montrose Sports Centre planned for Monday 12 October.
Increased safety measures have been put in place to ensure that the pools are ‘Covid-secure’ and this includes the need for the public to arrive ‘pool ready’ and a specially allocated container and cubicle for individuals to store clothing and change after use. It’s also essential customers book and pay for their sessions online or over the phone prior to their visit.
ANGUSalive is continuing to work with Scottish Swimming and Angus Council towards re-opening the swimming pool at Websters Sports Centre in Kirriemuir as well as offering other activities across its pools including family sessions, lessons, inflatables and aqua aerobics as soon as it is safe to do so. However, no date can be confirmed at this time.
Colin Knight, Senior Manager for Sport and Leisure at ANGUSalive said: “We are delighted to get back opening our pools again this October. We know that many of our members have been asking about the pools reopening and we are keen to re-open them as soon as possible too.
“We know that some people will be disappointed that we are not able to provide family swim sessions, lessons, inflatables or aqua aerobics at the moment but we’d like to reassure people that we hope to be able to offer these at some point in the future. It’s essential anything we do is COVID-secure, much more planning is required compared to pre-Covid and we need to ensure all the appropriate safety processes are in place. We also need to ensure that our staff have received all the necessary training to ensure our customers and colleagues are safe.”
ANGUSalive began reopening its sports centres from 14 September and have so far welcomed over 8,100 visitors through their doors.

Sports Club swimming sessions will be available at ANGUSalive pools from Monday 19 October 2020.
