Learn about life at Lathallan at School Open Days

Prospective pupils and their parents will have a chance to find out about life at Lathallan when the school hosts open days on Friday, November 20 and Wednesday, December 2.

Located just north of Montrose and 40 minutes from Aberdeen, Lathallan is an independent co-educational day and boarding school which caters for pupils from aged five to 18. It also has additional nursery facilities for children aged from six weeks to five years.

The open days, which will include an individual bespoke tour for each family, will show visitors what makes the school so special.
Tours will highlight Brotherton Castle, the main school building, and the extensive range of outdoor educational and recreational facilities in the secluded 60-acre grounds. The visits will take place during a normal school day to give visitors a real insight into the workings of the school.

Pre-registration is required for both days, with visitors allocated a time slot between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

As part of the registration process, parents will be asked to identify areas of specific interest to them and their children so they can meet key teachers and members of staff relevant to those interests.

They will also have the chance to speak with the headmaster, Richard Toley, and admissions team about enrolment, school taster days, S1 scholarship dates in January 2021 and the Lathallan Pathways plan for new J1 and J2 pupils.

Mr Toley said: “We’re very pleased to resume on-site open days. We held a virtual open day in June which was extremely successful, but nothing compares to visiting Lathallan in person to get a real sense and feel of what makes this school so special and the unique experience we give our pupils.

“We focus on every pupil as an individual and with an average of 12 pupils per class, every child benefits from a personalised teaching programme and encouragement and support to help them realise their full potential, educationally, socially and recreationally.

“We’re a small school which is a real benefit in providing reassurance for the ongoing safety concerns many families still have in relation to the pandemic," he added. "Smaller classes facilitate social distancing in our school buildings, and we have invested in improving connectivity in our outdoor learning spaces by installing WIFI hotspots across the grounds.”
