£1m fund encourages communities to ‘love local’

The £1 million Scottish Government Scotland Loves Local Fund aims to empower communities by enabling local delivery, and giving them support and guidance to help them achieve aims important to them.

Providing grants of between £500 and £5,000, the Scotland Loves Local Fund is open to constituted community groups with bank accounts and suitable governance controls, and where a recovery plan has been agreed in partnership with the local authority.

Examples of relevant projects include but are not limited to:

  • Small scale improvements and information to support the 20 Minute Neighbourhoodconcept
  • Physical distancing and public health infrastructure such as the supply or installation of distancing markers, outdoor protection while queuing, street marking, protective screens, PPE, and hand sanitising equipment
  • Small scale green infrastructure projects, such as ‘pocket parks’, tree and greenery planting, or refurbishment/enhancement of vacant and derelict sites

Applications close at 5pm on Wednesday 25 November 2020.
