Dundee Age Concern Trustee Recruitment

20th November 2020

Dundee Age Concern is looking for up to four Trustees to join its board.

We are a local not for profit charity with a presence in Dundee since 1947. Currently our service has been interrupted due to the Covid 19 pandemic, because of this we are at a vital moment for the organisation. Our development is ongoing and it is time to ensure we develop a strategy robust enough to meet the changed needs of the older people we serve to ensure the support we give will have a positive effect on the lives of those we support. Older people like others in society thrive in positive environments, which we provide in the Fiveways Day Centre in Dundee thanks to our well trained and experienced staff.

Dundee Age Concern is particularly keen to hear from people in and around the Tayside area who will bring different perspectives and skills to our board of trustees. DAC would like to recruit people who may have knowledge of health and social care, commerce, governance, or IT skills to join the current Board of Trustees.

Older people deserve the best service we can provide, and this must continue to evolve and expand to meet the expectations of individuals and any demographic changes in society. Challenges are ever present particularly those presented this year with the global pandemic and its risk to the people our organisation serve.

Trustees are decision makers and play an enormously valuable role in helping Dundee Age Concern to fulfil our overall purpose of improving the lives of older people within the community they live in. If you share our vision for this cause and would like to make a difference for the older people of Dundee with social support needs, and their family and carers, we would love to hear from you.

We hold board meetings up to 8 times per year – in the Dundee Age Concern centre.

This is a voluntary position, non-remunerated (out-of-pocket expenses paid).

Dundee Age Concern is committed to equality and diversity throughout our organisation and we would like to encourage applications from men, women, people from a Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic background, disabled people and young people.

A PVG check will be needed for this role.
