Neste expanding of renewable energy fuel at Schiphol Airport

Published

2nd December 2020

Neste purchased a minority stake in Aircraft Fuel Supply (AFS). AFS is the owner and operator of Schiphol's fuel storage organization at Amsterdam Airport. “Our goal is to be a world leader in sustainable and circular solutions. We are committed to helping our customers achieve their climate and carbon neutrality goals and reduce greenhouse gas emissions with our renewable aviation fuel (SAF)”

With its share of AFS, Neste can sell Neste MY Sustainable Aviation FuelTM to airlines operating at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol in the Netherlands with immediate effect. Neste's SAF is manufactured from sustainably sourced, recycled waste and residue raw materials. Usually, in its renewable form and throughout the life cycle, its use will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 80% relative to the use of fossil jet fuel.

Neste's annual sustainable aviation fuel capacity is currently 100 000 tonnes. With the expansion of Nest's Singapore refinery on the way and potential additional investment in the Rotterdam refinery, Nest will have the capacity to produce some 1.5 million tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel annually by 2023. Fuel is already available, used on the market and supplied to various commercial airlines, commercial airline customers and various airports in Europe and North America.
