Over 2,000 make healthy a habit with the ANGUSalive app

24th February 2021

Since ANGUSalive launched its app on 25 January 2021, over 2000 people have downloaded it to access various live stream and on demand fitness classes.

Some of these live streamed classes have seen more than 100 people joining the sessions from the comfort of their home.

The ANGUSalive app is available as a free trial to everyone and this offer has been extended until 31 March 2021, you can download it from the App Store or Google Play.

When sites reopen the app will allow users to book their class, gym and swim sessions, cancel places and be added to waiting lists. There is a selection of on demand fitness videos including Core, Gentle Aerobics and Indoor Group Cycling and this library is being added to regularly.  The live stream timetable offers classes such as Les Mills BodyAttack, BodyBalance, BodyCombat, BodyPump and BodyStep.

App users have provided feedback rating their experience of using the ANGUSalive app. Comments include how seeing a familiar face has improved their enjoyment, helping them to feel motivated to complete the full class. Some users also shared that taking part in an app session was their first ever time trying a fitness class and felt less self-conscious about doing this in the comfort of their own home. Around 84% of users rated their recent workout as great whilst 98.66% said they’d definitely use the app again.

Natasha McKay, 39, from Arbroath has been enjoying using the app. She said: “I’ve really enjoyed the ease of the online classes. Over the past 11 years, since having two children, I’ve only ever dipped in and out of classes due to working late nights and childcare. The on demand option works for me as I can participate at a time that suits. Due to not working at the moment as my salon is closed, I’ve really enjoyed trying out certain classes I could never attend before, it’s given me more confidence in knowing what to expect in a class that I’ve not tried before.”

Michelle Riddock, a 49 year-old Care Home Manager, who lived in Montrose prior to moving to Banchory two years ago is loving the ANGUSalive app. Michelle added: “I used to enjoy attending the classes at Montrose Sports Centre and the app allows me to see some familiar faces and work out safely from home. I take part in lots of different types of exercise but I definitely feel more motivated and burn more calories when working out with the ANGUSalive instructors. I love the GRIT and Sprint classes and the early morning sessions fit in well with my lifestyle and enable me to take part first thing and then head to work. I always feel better after a workout. Exercise definitely helps me manage stress and improves my overall health and wellbeing too. I’ve really enjoyed using the app.”

Following the First Minister’s announcement this week, ANGUSalive is reviewing all the information and guidance relating to the Scottish Government’s Strategic Framework and is hoping to start reopening its sports centres at some point from 26 April, 2021, if allowed. The charity will share more in the coming weeks.
