Visitors to Arbroath Library will be able to take in the new art exhibition in the Brothock Gallery showcasing Arbroath Art Society members works. The winter exhibition opened on Wednesday 8th December and will run until 5th February 2022, with all works for sale.

Arbroath Art Society was founded after the Second World War, by the warden of Hospitalfield Art College, together with other prominent members of the local community. Their idea was to encourage local interest in the Arts and to encourage service men and women returning from the war to get involved in art, already knowing the positive effects of art on mental health.

The Society continues to have a loyal following of local artists, who are delighted to be exhibiting work again after a break due to Covid-19 closures.

Museums Galleries Archives Operations Lead Rachel Jackson said, “We are delighted to welcome members of the Arbroath Art Society into the Brothock Gallery in Arbroath Library. There are over 50 art works on display which are available to purchase for those looking for a unique gift, and the relaxing gallery space offers an opportunity to escape the busy festive period and de-stress by browsing the artworks.”

The exhibition can be viewed over the festive period during the library opening hours, available at https://www.angusalive.scot/libraries/visit-a-library/arbroath-library/
