Circular Economy meeting with BlueCity Netherlands

BlueCity is an international icon of circular economy, a national platform for circular entrepreneurs, and a very visible local accelerator that empowers circular entrepreneurs and inspires citizens.

Based in a former subtropical swimming oasis in Rotterdam, BlueCity took a well known iconic building that had sadly lost its function and grandness and now it serves as a breeding ground for innovative companies linking their waste-streams. Inside their ecosystem of social entrepreneurs and radical disruptors, waste streams are valuable building blocks; the output of one is the input for the other. This way they create a much needed and inspiring example for the circular economy.

Our key guest speaker for the session is Sabine Biesheuvel.

Sabine Biesheuvel is co-founder and managing director of BlueCity. BlueCity is a hub and innovation centre focused on circular entrepreneurship, based in Rotterdam. Sabine is a business minded anthropologist and entrepreneur. Her focus lies on combining social and economic dynamics driving sustainability and innovation. Prior to becoming an entrepreneur, she worked as a consultant advising larger corporates on innovation processes. Next to BlueCity Sabine is also part of the Rotterdam Climate Coalition as chair of the circle economy round table, founder of Fuckup Nights Rotterdam and part of the Raad voor Goed, a collective of Rotterdam stakeholders that promote social entrepreneurship.
