Bank Holiday Monday

We don’t always take the bank holiday off, but today we’re glad we didn’t draw the short straw to man the office, as the sun is shining and there’s not a cloud in the sky!

Staci – I spent the day enjoying some family time with my 20 month daughter, Gabriella, and my husband Greg. Gabriella loves the park so we spent the morning at Camperdown Park having fun on the slides, roundabouts and trampoline. In the afternoon we set up the paddling pool in our garden - a great way to burn off some toddler energy while keeping cool!

Bella – After a weekend of camping, bonfires, and playing volleyball at this years Scottish Open Volleyball Tournament in Perth, my enthusiasm for the game resulted in a sprained ankle, ouch! Subsequently, I had no choice but spend the bank holiday Monday with my feet up in the garden enjoying a G&T or two, it’s a hard life. (Arbikie of course, keeping it local and doing my bit to support Angus!)

But there is no rest for the wicked and my temp desk doesn’t stop for the bank holidays with clients needing last minute receptionists! Thankfully my temp family is amazing and sacrificed their bank holiday to help me out and cover the assignments at last minute.

Heigh ho, heigh ho, it’s back to work we go!

Staci – I started the day with a vigorous swim, it’s an early start but it energises me for the day and helps me achieve a lot in my first few hours at work, rather than having a sleepy head on! Workwise, I made 2 job offers (the best part of my job!) then had a busy day sourcing candidates for the other perm roles I’m working on through searching job boards and networking on LinkedIn.

Bella – Hobbling back into the office with a serious case of the bank holiday blues, not long to dwell though, temp jobs to be filled same day and for the next week, the usual summer buzz surrounding holidays!! I love the fast paced nature of temporary recruitment, genuinely thrive on turning things around quickly and spinning lots of plates at once. As the day comes to an end there’s admin galore that comes with any temp desk; from holiday requests, timesheets, disclosures and referencing to forecasting and worker reporting. Managed to wrap things up just after half 6 and hooray, the sun is still out!

Happy Hump Day!

Staci – Today I kicked off with an energising yoga practice, then had a busy start at work catching up on emails and preparing for a morning out of the office with Bella delivering our summer marketing drops to our clients. With a new senior level vacancy in this morning I spent the afternoon networking with my contacts and setting up meetings for tomorrow with potentially suitable candidates. Feeling positive I can deliver a quality shortlist to my client by the end of the week.

Bella – After a morning of goodie drops, I dashed out to a client visit where we discussed bringing in temporary resource to cover a number of very exciting business development roles where successful candidates would even have the opportunity to secure a permanent contract with this unrivalled employer. Back to the office and on the phone to my BD and marketing candidate pool to see who might be interested. Later, I met with Stephen Smith, Careers Adviser at The University of Abertay to discuss becoming a mentor as part of their Career Mentoring Scheme, A great scheme giving students an insight to working life and building confidence.

Fun with the Young People’s Collective!

Our morning was spent with the day to day recruitment tasks; sourcing, filling temp jobs, setting up meetings for next week, prepping candidates for interviews, sending off CVs and calling our clients to advise of new talent on the market.

In the afternoon, we held a workshop with the Young People’s Collective for V&A Dundee, a group of clever, engaging and energetic young people who have collaborated on the opening event for Scotland's first international design museum. The first in a series of workshops, this was focussed around how to bring their skills and experience to market and how to put together a CV that will show employers everything these talented young people have to offer. As expected, it was super interactive and everyone got involved – great fun for all!!

Happy Friday Y’all!

Staci – Friday’s are always busy and the phone went non stop this morning with new jobs and job offers coming in. A great way to end the week! The afternoon was spent clearing emails, preparing job adverts, planning for the week ahead and preparing activity and productivity reports for management. Another quick day in recruitment!

Bella – An early start today to attend a site visit and job shadow to get a true feel for the team and environment. It’s great when clients are open to this as we meet new candidates daily and having a true understanding of the surroundings and team makes us a true recrtuiment partner able to identify the perfect match.

Back in the office sourcing candidates for the job and a surprise visitor turns up at the office - my sister who has been living in Australia for the past year! Emotional Friday! We are heading off to London on Sunday for a few days so finishing off the handover and it’s HAPPY WEEKEND!!
