Chamber Unveils New Member Initiatives for 2015

Over 80 attendees from the Dundee & Angus Business community, from both large and small organisations attended Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce’s vibrant Christmas Social last night (Thursday 19th December).

The Discovery Point was the spectacular venue for this year’s member festivities.

Mark Munsie, Operations Director of Dundee Industrial Heritage Limited said, “Discovery was delighted to welcome the members of DACC for their Christmas Networking Event.  I am sure the inspirational stories told in the museums of such great leaders as Robert Falcon Scott and Sir Earnest Shackleton hold resonance for all attended.”

Alison Henderson, Chief Executive Officer of DACC gave a sneak peek into DACC’s exciting plans for 2015 and unveiled a very special initiative to help members get the best out of being a Chamber member.

Alison Henderson said, “I was delighted to update our members on our exciting plans for 2015.

“We have got a great programme of events in the first quarter including a high noon lunch in association with Microsoft, RBS Explorer Breakfasts and a trip to visit Professor Sue Black at the Anatomy and Human ID Centre at University of Dundee.

“We were pleased to unveil two new member initiatives; the DACC 123 Member Promise and our ‘In Your Shoes’ Blog. Both of these will allow us to be better connected with our members, know what they want from the membership and promote their business.”

Delegates also had an update on the local Tourism strategy from Dundee City Council’s Gaynor Sullivan and Jennifer Caswell on what they are doing to attract visitors in 2015.

Will Dawson, convener of Dundee City Council\'s city development committee said: \"It is important that as many businesses as possible across the area are aware of the work going on to develop a City Tourism Strategy so that they can have their input and understand the opportunities and benefits it will provide for them.

\"We are aiming to have the strategy completed and agreed in the spring.\"

The rest of the evening gave the business community a chance to top up the bubbly and network, while getting the chance to explore in the footsteps of Captain Scott and his team and look round the amazing Discovery Point exhibitions.
