Volpa, the independent PR and Marketing agency based in Perth, has made moves to strengthen its senior practitioner team as the country edges closer towards a period of economic recovery, appointing award winning PR practitioner Emma Davies to the role of Account Director.

Davies was awarded ‘Accredited Practitioner' status by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), the communication industry's leading professional body in the UK, in February last year and recently completed the Strategic Marketing module of Heriot Watt's Edinburgh Business School's MBA course which she undertook while furloughed.

Davies joined Volpa in 2019, after running her own freelance consultancy, and is a specialist in public relations with 20 years' experience in the sector working with organisations across the UK. She began her PR career in London at Band & Brown Communications before moving to Cardiff and taking up a role with Freshwater, one of Wales' leading integrated communications agencies. Family life saw her move to Scotland in 2007 where she worked for Smarts Communicate in Glasgow as Senior Account Manager on accounts including Heineken UK, Carbon Trust Scotland, Zero Waste Scotland and Falkirk Council.

Tricia Fox, founder of Volpa, commented on the appointment: "I am delighted that Emma has agreed to move into the role of Account Director. Despite being furloughed due to a drop in work, she has worked hard to upskill and I believe she is an asset to our business. Due to our prominence in the tourism, leisure, and events sectors, we have been impacted by the pandemic and there is much work to be done on re-building. I am looking forward to doing this alongside Emma."

Emma commented: "I am really delighted to be taking on the role of Account Director at Volpa. Being furloughed has been challenging, however it did create a fairly unique opportunity for me to revisit my formal education, and the ability to invest significant time in further learning. I am confident these new skills and knowledge will be put to very good use in the years to come as we work with clients to help them navigate the inevitable challenges of economic recovery."
