Angus libraries are urging residents to try something new as adult group sessions resume following the lockdown in March 2020.

Reading and Reminiscence groups are amongst the sessions making a return during National Libraries Week 4-10 October 2021.

Reminiscence groups invite locals to meet up, connect and share memories of the good old days; whilst Reading groups are great for those looking for book inspiration and like to share their very own book reviews.

Meanwhile the Knit, Natter, Stitch and Chatter sessions enable people to bring their own craft, sewing or knitting project to progress in the company of other likeminded crafters as well as enjoy a good chatter.

Christine Sharp, Adult and Community Library Lead said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring back our adult group sessions. I know some people in our local community have felt quite lonely and isolated during the lockdowns and see their local library as a key social space where they can pop in for a book and a chat with a member of staff or meet like-minded people in the group activities.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces but also urge anyone who hasn’t tried one of our groups before to try something new. Our groups are great for meeting new friends, improving mood and combating isolation and loneliness. We’ll also be following all the Covid-safety regulations so you can also feel safe with us.”

For the little ones, the popular children’s session for under 5s, Bookbug, has already returned and will be taking place from more Angus libraries following the October school holidays.

A brand new group called Story Explorers will also launch later in October and will enable children aged 5-7 and 8-12 years to explore different books and stories through fun activities and games.

The sessions will run out of all ANGUSalive libraries either fortnightly or monthly.
