Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce (DACC), along with Dundee City Council, Women’s Business Station and UNESCO City of Design Dundee are flying the flag under the Love Dundee Local brand to offer an opportunity for local businesses to collaborate and take part in Dundee's Winterfest.

Winterfest, which opened at the weekend and runs until 2nd January, consists of 22 Christmas huts, giant wheel, large capacity bar area, full size ice skating rink as well as many more attractions. The interest surrounding this event has been exceptional, with people already making advanced bookings for the attractions. The footfall for Slessor gardens is projected to be significant as it’s the only Christmas market in the north of Scotland.

The partners have secured 2 of the Christmas huts giving local businesses the opportunity toChiara, Mezzaluna showcase local gifts, crafts and design. Those taking part during the festivities include Mezzaluna, Enlighten, Vine of Life, Marwicks, Luxury Hamper Company, Edna Mae Bakehouse and local designers & makers under the Unesco City of Design Dundee banner.

Alison Henderson, DACC CEO said “We’ve had a really positive response to this, it’s a great way to get local small business engaged in the market as we build capacity for the future.

As soon as we recognised it might be difficult for smaller local companies to play a part in the market the Chamber, Dundee City Council, Women’s Business Station & Unesco City of Design Dundee got together to fill 2 of the cabins with local businesses taking a week-long pop-up in the Winterfest market at Slessor Gardens.

It makes it affordable for micro businesses and is helping us get local gifts, produce and crafts in front of the many visitors we know are coming to the event.

Going forward we’re all keen to continue this and have early conversations with partners, market operators and businesses to make year two of this brilliant Winterfest a huge success that brings crowds to Dundee and the surrounding area.

We’re looking forward to seeing companies try this out and be able to expand their presence in the future.”

DACC are inviting Chamber Members to join them on 9 December at WinterFest to enjoy the festive activities, more information can be found over on their website DACC Xmas Social @ WinterFest | Dundee and Angus Chamber

Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce

As the leading business membership organisation in Dundee & Angus and part of the worldwide long-established Chamber of Commerce brand, we help local businesses to connect, communicate and develop for business benefit.

Dundee City Council

Dundee draws skilled workers from a 60-minute catchment population of 640,000 and has a local population of over 140,000. The availability of a large pool of highly skilled labour is a key feature in the Dundee economy. Flexibility in the labour force is currently more prevalent in Dundee than in Scotland as a whole. All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.

Womens Business Station

Founded in December 2019, Women's Business Station aims to be “The first stop to the best start” for women looking to start, build or grow a business.
