An Aberdeenshire-born entrepreneur has announced a multimillion-dollar expansion of his flourishing Houston co-working industrial property business during a landmark transatlantic business event.
Andy Grieve, who is originally from Durris, used the occasion of the recent milestone tenth Aberdeen-Houston Gateway to announce expansion of a diversification from his engineering firm, Hampco.
With the initial phase of investment exceeding $5 million, the move is set to spearhead an eventual doubling in size of the G-Tech Innovation Center in Brookshire to more than 100,000 square feet in the next three years.
Andy’s G-Tech Innovation Center gives overseas companies a launch-pad from which they can explore the US market, with business support and mentoring based on his own corporate journey also available. The busy facility in West Greater Houston’s up-and-coming Brookshire area offers short-term leases, from as little as a month, with the option to add space as a company grows. Featuring a combination of office space, and training/conference rooms the popular site also houses an attractive and unusual mix of clean workshop space and heavy-duty workshop side by side.
The landmark Aberdeen-Houston Gateway was held in association with the Greater Houston Partnership and G-Tech Innovation Center/Hampco to provide updates on key markets and the energy transition journey. It also took delegates on a deep dive into the wealth of growth and innovation in the technology supply chain thanks to case studies presented by sector leaders including Add Energy, Enerquip and Motive Offshore.
After two years wholly online, the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway’s important birthday was celebrated with a tentative step toward the event’s traditional format, thanks to a hybrid set-up which offered a mix of online and face-to-face seminars plus one-to-one meetings to optimise possibilities and connectivity for delegates and supporters.
Commenting on his announcement at the event, Andy Grieve said: “Since we built our first facility in Katy eight years ago, for Hampco, our industrial co-working concept has gathered momentum and we are now particularly grateful for the support of the city of Brookshire and Waller County administrations. Our expansion will offer state-of-the-art industrial accommodation with modern amenities normally only available in larger facilities.”
