A keynote event looking at how quality can drive success and competitiveness in business is to be held in Dundee.

A conference to celebrate World Quality Week 2023 aimed at business leaders, quality specialists and executives driven by continuous improvement, is to be held at Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education.

Some of the UK's leading experts on Quality Assurance will be keynote speakers including Vince Desmond, CEO, Chartered Quality Institute, Melinda Johnson, a board member of the British Quality Foundation and Karen Leftley, President of the British Quality Foundation.

The event is being run by The Dundee Centre of Business Excellence (DCBE), the industry arm of Al Maktoum College.

Dr. Alaa Garad, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Al-Maktoum College and CEO of DCBE, said that quality is an essential foundation for success across various fields, including business, healthcare, education, and environmental sustainability.

He said: “Quality is a fundamental aspect of any successful endeavour. We believe that World Quality Week can inspire individuals and organisations to strive for excellence in their processes, products, and services. Our collective aim is to unleash our competitive potential and positively impact the world around us.”

World Quality Week is a global event focused on highlighting the immense significance quality plays in all aspects of our lives. With this year's theme, "Quality: Realising Your Competitive Potential," DCBE is emphasising the vital role quality plays in ensuring success and competitiveness in today's fast-paced business landscape.

This dedicated week presents a unique opportunity for quality professionals to come together and exchange valuable insights, best practices and cutting-edge advancements in quality management. It is also a time to showcase innovative approaches and demonstrate how quality extends far beyond manufacturing, encompassing vital sectors such as healthcare, education, environmental sustainability and virtually every facet of daily life.
By actively engaging in World Quality Week, DCBE aims to raise awareness of the importance of quality in delivering reliable products and services, ensuring public safety and enhancing customer experiences.

Throughout World Quality Week, DCBE will host a diverse range of workshops, seminars and awareness campaigns, all of which will underscore the significance of adhering to quality standards and certifications. These activities will provide attendees with valuable insights into best practices, innovative approaches and the latest developments in quality management.

Dr. Alaa Garad added: “Quality standards are pivotal in ensuring unwavering and superior outcomes. By steadfastly adhering to established quality standards, organisations can secure reliability, efficiency and complete customer satisfaction. Moreover, certification is a powerful testament to their commitment to meeting these standards while continuously striving for improvement, embracing business excellence and delivering exceptional customer experiences.”

DCBE's World Quality Week celebration will take place on November 20 from 11am to 4pm at Al Maktoum College in Blackness Road, Dundee. Expert speakers will share their insights and expertise both in person and live online.
