Find out more about how to get involved in exporting.

'Export for Growth' was the theme of the latest Bank of Scotland Charter meeting, with some positive and worrying export trends revealed by Donald Macrae, Chief Economist at Lloyds Banking Group Scotland. On a positive note, Scotland's exports to GDP ratio is higher than the UK and even Germany, so we punch above our weight. But, only a small proportion of Scotland's exports go to the fastest growing economies in the world, which means it will be a challenge for us to get a growing share of the 13.5% rise in world trade that is expected this year. What Donald's talk demonstrated, and also the presentation from Scottish Development International, is that the potential benefits of making your business international are huge:  higher wages, productivity and profit margins.

Over 5000 Scottish businesses are already exporting: have you considered it?

If you are not sure how to go about exporting, help is at hand from Scottish Chambers International and the 'Smart Exporter' initiative. Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce has signed up to help deliver 'Smart Exporter'
