Thousands of students are set to descend on Overgate in Dundee for the centre’s annual Student Night which takes place tomorrow, Wednesday 21st September, 6.30pm – 9pm.
The barnstorming takeover, which saw close to 8,000 Freshers descend on the centre in 2015, is set to the biggest and best yet, and for the first time will be set against a fantastical Carnival theme which will see the centre transformed into a kaleidoscopic sea of colour complete with incredible South American-inspired party décor.
Over 40 retailers including Topshop, New Look, Schuh, Superdry, River Island, Foot Asylum, Office, Debenhams, Oasis and many more, along with food and drink favourites including Five Guys, Frankie & Benny’s, Starbucks, Fuel, Subway and Krispy Kreme, are set to pull out all the stops for a whopping retail takeover with between 10%-50% discounts on the night, sampling, lucky dips and goody bags with purchase at selected stores.
Host for Overgate Student Night 2016 is Liquid Nightclub and entertainment from other Dundee nightclubs Underground, Club Tropicana and Vogue will bolster excitement levels as top local DJs spin soundtracks worthy of the best carnival. Tastebuds will be tickled further as Liquid offers low alcohol cocktails specially created for the occasion, with the other nightclubs presenting low alcohol shot bars.
What’s more, a host of high profile partners from across the city will guarantee this year’s Overgate Student Night is the country’s hottest Freshers ticket. From free sushi by Kobee, free nachos by Wee Mexico, push-up competitions to win memberships at Pure Gym and free hair makeovers by Freedom Hairdressing – who will also be recruiting on the night for their Face of Freedom campaign – to Cineworld, Battlefield Live, Malmaison, Xplore, Sense Scotland, Angus Alive and Police Scotland, an unmissable night of fun and shopping beckons.
A further fantastical injection of Carnival colour and entertainment will be unleashed with graffiti artists, face painters, a caricaturist, balloon twisters and a Sillysnapz photobooth!

Student Night 2015 was phenomenal with close to 8,000 students descending on the centre, and this year’s event, with the fantastic Carnival theme, is set to be even bigger and better. The final preparations are being made by the Overgate team, our retailers and our many supporting partners from across the city. We can’t wait to open our doors tomorrow at 6.30pm and would urge students to arrive early and prepare for a night like no other.”
