Safety Expo Tayside!

A Safety Expo dedicated to showcasing safety-related solutions, products and services is set to make its debut in Tayside at Dundee and Angus College on Thursday, 27 October.

With its focus on providing Angus-based businesses with access to local QHSE service providers, the event formula incorporates a dedicated morning slot for students, after which the expo opens to the business community for speaker presentations, lunch refreshments, live working demonstrations and exhibition browsing.

Eleven exhibitors, spanning safety equipment, tools, training, clothing, print materials and specialist services, will participate in the event, which is organised jointly by practical health and safety training providers AquaTerra Training Ltd and safety print specialist XIC.

“The Safety Expo first took place in Aberdeen in May 2015 and has been repeated successfully since,” said Jason Moir, business development manager, XIC. “The ethos behind the event – to bring smaller niche health and safety specialists under one roof and showcase their expertise to local companies – remains equally valid today and is just as relevant to the Angus audience.

“Many of our exhibiting companies have worked incredibly hard during the energy industry downturn to develop innovative solutions that can help organisations remain both compliant and cost-efficient.  We hope that companies across all sectors in Dundee and the surrounding area will come along and learn how our exhibitors might add value to their health and safety activities.”

Stephen Ferguson, Business Development Manager, AquaTerra Training Ltd said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with Dundee and Angus College to deliver the Safety Expo further south.

“Given the importance of health and safety at work – and the need to attract new talent into this field – we are particularly pleased to bring the event to a student audience via the dedicated morning slot.  We hope that those who are studying related courses will take the chance to drop in and engage with experts working in the industry.”

Visitors to the free event will have the opportunity to witness a rescue when working from height, a real incident investigation and demonstrations on breathing protection equipment and gas detection products.  The speaker line-up includes presentations from incident investigation and risk management experts Matrix Risk Control and ACE Occupational Hygiene.

Entrance to the Safety Expo Tayside is free of charge.  The event, which takes place at Dundee and Angus College’s Kingsway Campus is open to students from 9.30am to 11.30am and the business community from 12pm to 3.30pm.
