Dundee Science Centre is an interactive science centre whose aim is to increase science learning and public engagement within the local and wider community. As well as being a popular leisure attraction attracting in excess of 70,000 visitors a year, Dundee Science Centre is also making impressive progress in establishing itself as a leading Educational resource within the science community. We are currently seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer to lead and manage our ambitious team and take this growing organisation forward.
As Chief Executive Officer and figurehead for the organisation, you will lead the organisation in delivering the strategic and operational outcomes of Dundee Science Centre and Dundee Science Centre Enterprises Ltd. Reporting directly to the Chair of the Board, you will be responsible for managing all Dundee Science Centre projects and initiatives to ensure the aims and objectives of the organisation are achieved and where possible exceeded. Key responsibilities include:
· Working in partnership with Board of Directors to develop and deliver strategic goals of the organisation
· Development and successful implementation of DSC’s Business Plan
· Budget preparation and review, including financial management systems
· Resourcing, development and performance management of an effective team
· Direction and leadership to establish new sources of commercial revenue
· Oversight and support of Learning and Community Engagement initiatives
· Fostering exemplary customer service standards throughout organisation
· Compliance with all relevant statute
· Oversight of the completion of current £1.8 million Capital Expansion Project as well as future Projects for development within the organisation
A motivated and experienced individual, you will be expected to lead, manage and inspire staff to work with all relevant stakeholders, including local authorities, further and higher education institutions, companies and local and national government, to promote the engagement and understanding of science learning.
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level or equivalent, in a relevant subject area (science, education or management), or have equivalent experience in one of these areas. You will have demonstrable experience of working at senior management level and have an in depth working knowledge of Science Centres or visitor attractions. You will have the experience and ability to effectively provide strategic direction, manage budgets, manage projects and inspirationally lead a team.
