Shackleton Technology collaboration with innovative Dundee community hub

Dundee technology firm, Shackleton are partnering with The Circle to deliver the robust IT infrastructure required by city charities, social enterprises and businesses.

The Circle is transforming the former Claverhouse Group building on Staffa Place to a hub for enterprises to access affordable workspace. They are providing office, co-working, event and community space and by having organisations co-located together, are looking to foster innovative and collaborative projects which deliver social benefit.

The Circle Founder & CEO, Kirsty Thomson, said, “The Circle will only be a success if we have the best possible infrastructure for our clients. A secure, resilient and reliable network is essential for the organisations we are looking to work with. Co-working spaces live or die by the quality of their IT provision. The infrastructure that exists in the building is dated and no longer fit-for-purpose and we need expert assistance to help us deliver the services our tenants expect.

We were impressed not only with the strong technical expertise and customer experience credentials of Shackleton, but by their commitment to our vision for the building, the tenants and the community. They clearly understood our ambitions and are as enthusiastic as we are about developing the services organisations need to flourish and meet their objectives in improving lives.”

Shackleton and The Circle Board of Directors are now working on the details of the project and will be approaching charitable funders and corporate sponsors to finance the developments which will include the installation of a super-fast wifi connection, networking, provision of audio-visual equipment and installation of a cloud-based telephony system. Shackleton will also be providing desktop support to tenants to improve the productivity of their organisations.

Shackleton Technology Business Development Manager, Steve Smith said, “We were delighted to be approached by The Circle to bid for supporting their IT requirements. The team at The Circle have an ambitious vision to support organisations doing excellent work in the city. We are looking forward to working with them to not only give them the best possible infrastructure but provide a valuable link to the local business community.”

The Circle was officially launched on 25th November by Jenny Marra MSP. Enquiries about offices, co-working and event bookings or sponsoring the development work required can be made to Facilities and Service Development Manager, Nicola Donnelly at Nicola@thecircledundee.org.uk
