New management at two Perthshire care homes

29th June 2017

Balhousie Care Group has announced that two of its Perthshire care homes have welcomed new home managers.

Pamela McAllister has taken up the post of home manager at Crieff-based Balhousie Dalnaglar Care Home and Angela Parnell has been introduced as the new home manager at Balhousie's Pitlochry Care Home.

Angela Parnell joined Pitlochry after re-locating from Somerset, where she managed a private elderly care home. Angela also brings with her experience from her nine-years with Capability Scotland in an area operations manager role.

One project Angela is particularly looking forward to is working alongside Perth & Kinross Council and Care Inspectorate to implement the Care About Physical Activity (CAPA) initiative within the home. The programme is designed to build on the skills, knowledge and confidence of social care staff to enable those they care for to increase their levels of physical activity and move more often.

"I'm already working with some of my contacts at Capability Scotland to find opportunities for our residents to utilise their resources, such as the hydrapool that is completely accessible for our residents," says Angela. "There are many little things that we can do that will all have a huge impact on the wellbeing of our residents. There's a great team here at Pitlochry and 'm looking forward to working with the local community to build on our local partnerships."

Pamela stepped into the role of home manager at 39-bed Dalnaglar Care Home after joining Balhousie Care Group two months ago, bringing with her a wealth of experience from previous roles in the care industry. Pamela commented:

"I'm very excited to have joined Dalnaglar as the home manager and look forward to working together with the existing team to help grow the team and welcome new residents into a personalised environment within the home. I'm especially looking forward to looking for new and unique activities for our residents to enjoy, which will enhance the standard of care and create a happy home for our residents to live."

Louise Barnett, Operations Director at Balhousie Care Group, added:

"We're delighted to have appointed new managers to both our Pitlochry and Dalnaglar homes. Pamela and Angela have a wealth of experience in the care industry and an enthusiasm to deliver personalisation for residents, relatives and staff which all help create positive outcomes for individuals as well as the homes."
