23rd August 2017

An exciting new project is recruiting for multiple members of staff! A partnership comprising Dundee City Council, Dundee Citizens Advice Bureau, Discovery Credit Union, Brooksbank Centre & Services, SCARF, Shelter Scotland, The Wise Group are delivering a financial inclusion project funded by European Social Funds and Big Lottery Fund.

This project runs until February 2020, with the core aims of:

  • Improving money management skills;
  • Decreasing the numbers of people affected by debt as a barrier to social inclusion.

Key frontline officers will work with project participants over an extended period, developing and delivering holistic Action Plans in partnership with participants in order to improve their knowledge and skills. A key attribute of these frontline officers will be an ability to engage, encourage and maintain relationships with project participants.
The frontline team will be supported by specialist project staff who will deliver: e.g. debt advice, energy advice, credit union membership support, and adult learning.

At this time, recruitment is live for 18 posts in 3 roles across 6 organisations, with 2 further roles to be advertised in the future.

Please see https://www.dundeecity.gov.uk/financialinclusion for information about a project information recruitment event being held on Tuesday 29th August. At this event you will be able to learn more about the project, speak to senior project and partnership staff, and find out further information about the roles advertised.

The availability of a large pool of highly skilled labour is a key feature in the Dundee economy. Flexibility in the labour force is currently more prevalent in Dundee than in Scotland as a whole. All forms of labour market flexibility - part-time, temporary employment, self-employment and shift work - are widely operational within the city. Labour force stability in the city is excellent, enabling companies to plan with confidence. Labour turnover levels are less than 5% and absenteeism averages 2%.
