Overgate Management successfully complete their annual community day

Management and stakeholders from Overgate swapped their computers for overalls recently as part of the centre’s annual Community Day.

Through partnership with the Rockwell Primary and Secondary Schools in Dundee, currently home to local children aged between 5-17 with behavioural and social issues, Morag Dennis, Operations Manager of Overgate and her team took time out from their normal daily routine of helping keep the retail wheels in motion at Dundee’s busiest shopping destination.

Embracing the opportunity of spending a day at Rockwell transforming a garden area from an overgrown eyesore to an area where the children could enjoy the outdoors free from the dangers of glass, contaminates and needles, the Overgate Community Day was very much a team effort.

Stepping in with some extra practical support for Morag, Perth’s Binn Group provided a skip, wheel barrows and compost all free of charge, NCP supplied additional labour, bird feeders, birds baths and boxes, Interserve donated two benches and labour, and Langstanes the much welcomed refreshments. Bonnie Dundee, a key partner in Overgate’s ongoing William Gardiner Square transformation provided gardening advice!

Commenting on the initiative, Morag Dennis, Operations Manager, Overgate said,

A fantastic day was had at Rockwell by the Overgate team and our Community Day partners. It was hard work but seeing the end result made it all worthwhile and I hope we have made a collective difference.”

Steven McLauchlan of Rockwell added,

I would like to thank Morag, Overgate and all stakeholders for everything they have done. We at Rockwell are very grateful for all their effort and the positive impact the transformation of the garden is having on the well-being of all our pupils.”
