Two teams from the High School of Dundee have taken top spots in the Young Enterprise Tayside Awards.

Spartan Enterprise, made up of a group of eight F6 pupils from the High School of Dundee, won first prize of £100 and a cup for their Business Plan, while the five-strong Pinnacle were awarded first prize and £60 for in the Trade Stand category of the Young Enterprise Tayside Awards.

Spartan Enterprise impressed the judges with their proposal for the sale of branded water bottles. The bottles have been a hit with pupils and staff alike, and a second order for bottles has been placed to cater for demand.

Pinnacle partnered Scottish biscuits with pots of Mackays preserves in specially presented gift packs, and developed the Scottish theme in the design of their trade stand. Mackays donated products to the group in return for leaflet distribution, which enabled the group to reduce start-up costs, and every pack was sold.

Business Studies teacher Ruth Crighton said: 'Both teams have worked extremely hard at developing and marketing their product, and I am delighted that their efforts have been recognised with these awards.'
