MacRoberts is delighted to announce that Corporate Partner Neil Kennedy will succeed John Macmillan as Managing Partner from 1st May 2018.

Neil, an Aberdeen University graduate, has been with MacRoberts for 19 years and a partner for 10 of those. He is an expert in corporate and commercial law and is a lead adviser to a number of well-known SME businesses in Scotland.

John Macmillan steps down from the role after his second term as Managing Partner, and will continue as an Employment Partner of the firm. The handover process between John and Neil has been in the planning for over four months so a smooth changeover is ensured in May.

On his appointment Neil Kennedy said,

“I am really delighted to have the opportunity to serve the firm as Managing Partner. Anyone who has met me knows that I am really passionate about MacRoberts and the people who make it the firm it is. We have achieved great success under John Macmillan’s expert watch and we will continue to achieve this through investment, underpinned by exceptional talent and service.”

John Macmillan said,

“Neil Kennedy will be a very fine successor. He has all the right attitude, client and staff focus and MacRoberts’ ethos. The firm will be in very good hands and I was delighted by the strength of the partner support for his appointment. Having been in the MP role for more than 11 of the last 20 years, and all of the last three and half, I was sure it was time to hand the role on to a more dynamic and focused individual.”

MacRoberts is shortlisted three times at this month’s Scottish Legal Awards: Corporate Partner, Michael Kelly, is in the running for Lawyer of the Year and the firm is a finalist in Corporate Deal Team of the Year and Family Law Team of the Year.
