Discovery Point, home of the historic RRS Discovery ship, has received a £5,000 boost to its extensive refurbishment programme.

The five-star visitor attraction, located at Dundee's waterfront, received a cheque from the Friends of Dundee Heritage Trust towards the recent upgrades to its visitor galleries and conference facilities. The updates include a touch-screen Antarctica map, an explorer themed gallery and a dress-up area for kids.

"This generous contribution from the Friends of Dundee Heritage Trust is most welcome. It is only through the support of our backers - individuals, businesses, grant givers and other stakeholders - that we can continue to provide an award-winning visitor experience at the heart of Dundee's tourist hub."

With a role of preserving Dundee and its heritage for current and future generations, Dundee Heritage Trust owns and operates RRS Discovery and Verdant Works, one of the nation's important textile museums.
